- 1/2 Kg Basmati Rice
- 2 Big Onions, Finely Chopped
- 1 Big Tomato, Finely Chopped
- 2 Potatoes, Cut in half and Lightly Fried (Optional)
- 1 Cup Fresh Peas
- 2 Green Chillies, Slit
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tsp Cumin Powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1/2 tsp Dried Mango (Amchur) Powder
- 5-6 Curry Leaves
- 2 Bay leaves
- 2 " stick of Cinnamon
- 2-3 Cardamoms (small)
- 1 Large Cardamom
- 5-6 Black peppercorns
- 3-4 Cloves
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Black Cumin Seeds (Shahjeera)
- 2 tbsp Curd
- 1/4 tbsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Red Chili Powder
- as per taste Salt
- as required Water,
- as required Coriander leaves, Finely chopped
- as required Deep fried onion (Birishta) for garnishing
- 3 tbsp Oil
Steps to make to make Prawn & Peas Pulao
- Clean and wash the fresh prawns. Retain the shell and keep aside.
- Heat the Oil in a Kadhai. Add the whole garam masala, curry leaves and slit green chillies. Add the chopped onions and fry until light brown in colour. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste. Fry until the smell of the ginger and garlic goes away.
- Add all the powdered spices and cook for half a minute. Add the curd to this mixture and mix well. Add the prawns, Salt and cook well for 5 mins. Add the Fresh Peas and the lightly fried Potato Halves and cook well for another 2-3 minutes.
- Once the oil starts leaving the sides, Add hot water and let it come to a boil.
- Add the washed and soaked rice to the boiling water. Adjust the salt as per taste and cook until the rice is completely done.
- Garnish with Finely chopped fresh Coriander and deep fried onions. Serve with a wedge of lime.
